Chuck DeVore put it all on the line.

In a principled stand, Chuck decried massive tax hikes on hard-working families in the Golden State, resigned his leadership position in protest, and blasted the Assembly's deal:

“This proposed agreement strikes at the heart of our longtime opposition to tax increases. Excessive taxation both harms the economy and robs hardworking Californians of a portion of their liberty. Placing our Caucus squarely in line with tax increases also demoralizes our supporters – people who were counting on us to hold the line.

“For these reasons, I believe it is appropriate for me to resign as Chief Republican Whip, effective immediately. I can no longer participate as a leader on a team that is preparing to make a fundamental mistake of colossal proportions. For the sake of California I hope I am wrong – however, I fear I am right and that this tax increase and budget deal will result in more harm to the Golden State than good.”

Chuck DeVore showed his true colors, as a Republican who places principle above position. He marked himself as one of the emerging bright lights of the next conservative ascendancy. In stepping down, he stepped up -- and it won't be the last time.

Barbara Boxer and a liberal Obama majority in Washington just passed a massive "ominous" spending bill that jeopardizes our fiscal future and squanders our children's inheritance. We can't afford to take a chance on tepid and untried leaders. We need real conservatives with resolve who will represent us in Washington.

$150 million for bonus's?

how about rangels lax of tax payments telling us about taxing 90% how much can we tax you Charlie? Rangle is a tax cheat

how about the $350 Million from the auto companies paid to lobby firms ? lets tax those 90%

how about the earmark fraud lets tax those 90%?

how about re-election funds of millions of dollars that should be taxed at 100%

how much money is going to election funds from companies that recieve any money from the government,from tarp ,talp ,or the HUNDREDS of MILLIONS that are EARMARKED?

your days are numbered ,I am going to vote sen dodds party out of office ? we need to censure sen dodd for lieing ,I do not want LIARS in my government or frankly I do not even want our government that seem to ALWAYS say "we looked the other way?"

why do we allow government funds paid to company's to TRICKLE down to lawmakers election funds to the tune of HUNDREDS of MILLIONS

HARRISBURG PA-- Three investigators and dozens of former campaign operatives are on the witness list for a preliminary hearing tomorrow in a criminal case against 12 state House Democratic employees and elected officials accused in a corruption scandal.

Charges against the 12 include theft, criminal conspiracy and conflict of interest for allegedly running a multimillion-dollar scheme to divert public funds to campaigns.

did I hear rep. Murtha from Pa. is now caught doing this same thing and to think he called those people "REDNECKS"? Lets all call him a "THIEF"

whats the diff. in bonus payments or people skimming/steeling of the house sub prime mess
or the billions that are skimmed in the health care? or the earmarking of PUBLIC funds that end up in election fund accounts? we should tax those 90%
